Information on Deutz's engines

Deutz AG which powers SDF tractors are one of the largest engine manufacturers in the world producing over 150,000 units a year and employing 5,000 people. They are continually investing and developing the latest in Diesel technology.

Recently they introduced the 2012 engine which is Euro Tier III compliant, what makes this remarkable is that a version can also run 100% on vegetable oil (Deutz AG Natural Power) thus reducing Carbon Dioxide emissions to almost zero making SDF the first mass producer of tractors to achieve this status.

This engine is available in 2 and 4 valve options and has a common rail injection system. Deutz AG have ironed out many of the flaws affecting other engines by having duel fuel pumps lubricated by engine oil rather than fuel. This has the effect of:

Increased reliability as the quality of lubrication is not dependent on the quality of the fuel
Two pumps (most other makes have one) mean less stress and overloading with a twin pump operation whilst preventing the reduction of pressure in the common rail element.
